“A small independent operator was completing a previously bypassed zone in a Gulf shelf well with a frac pack. CSI was called to review the proposed procedure, to evaluate pump-in tests just prior to the job, and to provide engineering support during the job. Results from the pump-in testing indicated the formation perm was much lower than believed. CSI engineers designed a much larger frac pack and directed its successful completion. The formation produced at a sustained rate 3 times greater than anticipated from the original job design—600 BOPD rather than 200 BOPD.”
